Central
Mindanao Colleges (CMC), through its Center for Job Placement (CJP), actively
participated in the Virtual Discussion on the Role of Job Placement Officers in
Public Employment Services and Industry-Driven Employment held on July 5, 2025,
via Zoom. The virtual event convened higher education institutions, public
employment service offices (PESOs), and career development professionals to
explore the evolving roles of JPOs in bridging academic institutions with the
rapidly changing world of work.
During
the forum, participants discussed strategies for aligning curricular offerings
with labor market trends, enhancing job placement systems, and fostering
stronger partnerships with industries and government agencies. CMC’s CJP
contributed insights on how the institution has been supporting graduates
through career coaching, job fairs, alumni tracking, and skills development
programs that respond to real-world employment needs.
The
forum also emphasized the significance of collaborative and data-informed placement
initiatives that ensure students and graduates are equipped with relevant
competencies and career readiness. It highlighted the importance of employment
officers not only as facilitators of job opportunities but also as key players
in institutional planning and policy-making toward inclusive growth.
This
initiative directly supports Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 8: Decent Work
and Economic Growth, which calls for promoting sustained, inclusive, and
productive employment. Through active involvement in national conversations
like this, CMC reaffirms its commitment to shaping graduates who are not only
academically prepared but also industry-aligned, globally competitive, and
empowered for lifelong success.
